The Bomb Factory
History
Since its reopening, The Bomb Factory has hosted quite a number of acts that include Don Henley, Erykah Badu, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and The Eagles among various others. The history of The Bomb Factory dates back to 1914 when Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company acquired the site for his assembly plants. It was however turned into a production center for practice bombs, jeeps, and ammunition in preparation for World War II. The center operated under the name Mayhew Machine and Engineering Works but was shut in 1970s. In the early ‘90s, The Bomb Factory resurfaced as one of the most notable music venues in the area. It was however shut once more just a few years into operation.
As a music venue, The Bomb Factory commenced its operations in 1993. Several acts performed at the venue before its closure in 1997. Some of the noteworthy acts include Marilyn Manson, Tool, Slayer, Megadeth, Fugees, Black Sabbath and Korn among others. It was announced in 2013, November that The Bomb Factory would be brought back to life after 15 years of lying idle. Clint Barlow unveiled the multimillion dollar project that focused on renovating the venue’s air conditioning, space, sound systems, lights, shower facilities and the gym. It was reopened in March of 2015 and has been pretty active since.
Types of Events
While it is a live music venue, The Bomb Factory hosts quite a wide variety of events. Following its 2015 reopening, the venue has hosted acts such as Sturgill Simpson, Brand New, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Future, D’Angelo, Don Henley, Disclosure as well as Robert Plant among others. Elm Street Music and Tattoo Festival has also been held at the venue. Other events that have been held in The Bomb Factory are cooperate events for big companies such as Dallas Observer, Raising Cranes and Jaguar.
Besides being a music, convention, festival and private event center, The Bomb Factory regularly hosts mixed martial arts and boxing events. A case in point is the Premier Boxing Championship that was held on the 28th of November, 2015 and the MMA Fight Night that was held on the 9th of January, 2016.
