Life History
Born in the town of Gibbons, Central Alberta – Canada, Jason Christie is a renowned ice hockey player that has earned quite the name for himself. Jason is a remarkable athlete who has had a largely successful run in the sports arena. He is as a matter of fact one of the most notable ice hockey players in Canadian hockey history. He was born on the 25th of April, 1969. He played in the position of right win gin his team and made his shots using left. His active playing career lasted between the years 1990 and 2000 before he started taking up coaching roles. Jason’s height is 5’8” and he weighs 180lbs.
Jacksonville IceMen Head Coach
Besides the great success Jason Christie has had in Ice Hockey as a player, he has been equally successful as a coach. It is probably due to this that the announcement of Jason joining Jacksonville IceMen as Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations was received with great enthusiasm. This position makes him the very first head coach of the franchise.
In an interview with Bob Ohrablo, the team president stated that the selection process involved a number of details and experience was one of the most important. He further stated that Christie had amassed a record that nobody could outdo. With fourteen years of coaching and 547 ECL victories, Jason Christie was certainly the best candidate for the job.
The team president also said that they are counting on Christie’s connections within the league to come in handy in helping the IceMen create their rooster as there were several player contracts soon to end.
Accomplishments
Jason Christie’s accomplishments in the sports arena both as a player and as a coach are pretty fascinating. While coaching Tusla Oilers, he led the team to a 4-2 victory over Idaho. This was his 492nd win which made him the coach with the most victories throughout the ECHL history. He had surpassed the record set by John Marks of 491. Throughout his career as a hockey player, Jason managed to score an incredible 305 goals. He played for 19 years before embarking on his coaching career.
As a coach, Jason Christie has nurtured quite a number of players in ice hockey. He is a veteran whose main objective is to build competitive hockey teams that perform well in the sport. He is also committed to developing hockey players and helping them reach their full potential and even make it to NHL. At the time he was joining the Jacksonville IceMen, he had coached for 14 years and had already bagged 547 victories.
Experience as Hockey Player and Coach
As a player, Jason Christie played for the Hamilton Canucks in the AHL and the Portland Pirates also of the AHL. He scored several goals and built a good reputation in the sport.
His coaching career saw him serve as coach of the Bloomington Prairie Thunder of the CHL-Central Hockey League, the Ontario Reign and the Tusla Oilers both of the ECHL and lately joined the Jacksonville IceMen as the first head coach.

Introduction
The 2017-2018 ECHL season marked the beginning of the Jacksonville IceMen’s participation in professional ice hockey. Formerly known as Muskegon Fury, Muskegon Lumberjacks and eventually the Evansville IceMen, they are a minor league that plays in Jacksonville, Florida. The team’s home ground is at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena located in Downtown Jacksonville, where it plays all its home games. Although the team has technically been in existence since the early ‘90s, it has undergone several lease changes and relocations over the years that led to the current Jacksonville IceMen. The team is affiliated with NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose.
Recap of the 2017 Season
The Jacksonville IceMen’s performance for the 2018 season was slightly below average. Considering the fact that it was their first time in the league however, it was a pretty commendable effort. They played against the Orlando Star Bears, South Carolina Stringrays, Atlanta Gladiators and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits all to whom they lost the first matches. Their first win for the 2017 season was against Brampton Beast in which they won 5 to naught. They lost two matches after this win against Reading Royals and Manchester Monarchs after which they won heir match against the South Carolina Stingrays. The Jacksonville IceMen had 6 more wins and 13 losses to conclude the 2017 season with a low performance.
Preview of the 2018 Season
The team started off the 2018 season with a win against the Norfolk Admirals. Their joy was however short-lived as they lost to Atlanta Gladiators and Orlando Solar Bears in the subsequent matches. After winning against Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the team lost 4 to 2 against Florida Everblades. They also suffered 2 loses in the matches that followed. Their other wins for the 2017 season was against the South Carolina Stingrays in which they won 4 to 1, against the Worcester Railers, Manchester Monarchs, South Carolina Stingrays and Greenville Swamp Rabbits among others. They have had several losses and a number of wins in the 2018 season.
The upcoming 2018-2019 season promises to be filled with fun and excitement for the fans of the Jacksonville IceMen. IceMen games are a big component of the Jacksonville Nightlife scene. There are lots of restaurants in Jacksonville and Hotels in Jacksonville that are close by the IceMen games and provide more opportunities for fun with friends and family. Top performers
The current roster for the Jacksonville IceMen is made up of Cameron Critchlow who plays in the position of left winger, Cody Fowlie in the right wing. Others on the list are Garet Hunt, Eli Lichtenwald, Dajon Mingo, Wacey Rabbit, Jake Randolph as well as Colten Veloso.
